I call these my "hook style" bottle openers as they resemble a forged hook. This particular style is forged from square cross section parent stock which is tapered and forged round to form the working end of the opener. The tab is punched in where the handle extends back into the hand and the end is embellished with what is known as an upset. The upset is created when the steel is forged back into itself causing it to swell and reveal the plastic nature of the metal when it is at forging temperatures.
These bottle openers are fairly lightweight yet large enough to provide a secure hold on a bottle cap.
The hook style bottle openers make great gifts for those folks in your life who enjoy one of a kind, handmade gifts, but still on a budget.
